Little Watercolor Paintings

18 Jun

Hi there,

So, I took a little break from the ATCs, and the scroll I’m working on. My friend Anne and I had an art night on Tuesday this week. She wanted to learn how to do some watercolor painting using the salt technique. She did an excellent job for her very first time at it.

I got a little packet of 4 1/2 x 6 1/4 inch note cards, and we painted all of them. Here are the pics of the ones I made.

Authentic Scribal Materials ATCs Moving Along

14 Jun

Hi there,

This weekend was wonderful! I taught my Authentic Medieval Scribal Materials (hands on) class on Saturday and hosted a Scriptorium on Sunday at an SCA event.

During the Scriptorium, I got the first color of paint on the ATCs. They are moving right along.

Also, during the Scriptorium, a reporter and photographer for the Sierra Vista Herald, the local newspaper came in and interviewed some of us and took lots of pictures. I am actually quoted in the article, along with several other friends.

Authentic Medieval Materials ATCs Comming Soon

08 Jun

Hi there,

I am still working on the Authentic Medieval Materials ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). I haven’t had time yet this week to get back to them since my last post. I know for sure I’ll be able to get to them later in the week, or early next week. I don’t have any pics of them to post yet. I’ll post them once they’re all finished and looking good.

Enjoy!

Sale Over & New Products on the Way

03 Jun

Hi there,

Thank you for making my first sale on my eCrater on-line store a success! The Memorial Day through my B-day sale is now over and the prices are back to normal.

I am currently working on a new product, Authentic Medieval Materials Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). These cards are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. The authentic materials are as follows:

Animal skin vellum
Gesso
Gold Leaf
Loose pigments + egg yolk as binder = hand mixed Tempera paints

These designs are based on the Bourdichon and Huth books of hours.

I have 7 of them drawn up, and the gesso applied. The next steps will be to burnish the gesso, apply the gold leaf, burnish the gold leaf, mix and apply the paints. All of these steps are time consuming. I do not have a firm date of release for these, so stay tuned!

Thanks!

Upcoming Art Projects

01 Jun

Hi there,

Well, I have a busy week this week, so I don’t know if I’ll actually get to any of the Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) I have drawn up until next week. They’re going to be Medieval/Renaissance manuscript authentic materials, based on the Bourdichon or Huth Hours.

This week, I have house work that really needs to get done, I am taking tomorrow off, and cooking lots (we got a new fridge, and the old freezer had more room.

So, I’m hoping to get to the art next week.

Until then, the sale on my eCrater store is still on until Thursday morning, bright and early.

Enjoy!

I’m hoping it’s a success and that the word gets out fairly quickly.

In the upcoming weeks, I need to get some paintings going, get a couple porcelain pendants completed, and clean my studio. It’s a total mess right now!

Been on a Jewelry Making Bender

21 May

Hi there,

Well, I haven’t been posting much lately because I have been in the tight grasp of the jewelry making muse. I need to take pics (with my new little studio in a box set up that my hubby got me… thanks honey!), then I’ll get them posted next week sometime.

I feel the muse of my “Illuminations” comic strip coming on soon, too. Sounds like it’s about time to pack up the beads, and get drawing.

I need to make 2 porcelain pendants sometime this summer as well. I’ll see when that muse gets to me in it’s grasp, it’s not quite here yet.

On an SCA (www.SCA.org if you don’t know what it is) note, I think I have made up my mind to merchant, instead of volunteer, at next year’s (2011) Estrella War in February (www.estrellawar.org). Time to get my paperwork lined up.

On a Ms. Suzie-Homemaker note, I have put in my first little garden. I have 2, 4×8 foot planter boxes. Everything is sprouting and the transplants are doing really well. I am very excited about the prospect of garden fresh veg later this summer/fall!

So you can enjoy some of my art, here’s another pic from the DBG.

JoJo’s Dress is done

05 May

Hi there,

I got JoJo’s dress completely painted today. Raven picked it up earlier to take back to his lovely wife who will finish sewing it. Jo is planning on wearing it to an event next month, so I’ll see if I can pin her down for a quick photo shoot, then I’ll post more pictures.

Thanks,
S
